Loving all of Lisa Dickinson's page shares and this misting technique, brilliant and visually appealing. But, that would mean I have to buy some mists- what are your favorite brands?

These booth decor images would make great DIY projects.
1. Hambly overlay covered lights
2. Jillibean Paper owls
3. Imaginsice floral heart
4. 7 Gypsies ticket explosion
1. Tim Holtz Ideaology
2. Fiskars paper tree
3. Jenni Bowlin paper flowers
4. Graphic 45 birdcage
Any of these ideas catch your eye? I want to make the lights using the Hambly overlays and love the strands of tickets. So many ideas, not enough time.
Other eye catching visuals at the show were all the party decor ideas. Party hats, garlands, cones, even party blowers-- love what can be done with pretty paper.

I can not state how strongly I care about, love, the scrapbooking industry. It is such a part of my life and who I am. Sometimes I wonder if I care too much-- but I do not think that is possible. What is it I care about? what makes it so important to me? As many of you know I lost a job I loved 2 years ago and for that entire first year I explored other industries, hobbies, fields, publishing, places to put my heart and time into. Nothing compared to what I have come to love as The Scrapbooking Industry.
It is where I have chosen to dedicate my time and talents. I have been a scrapbooker since High School and will continue to be in some form or other my entire life. I will seek out and look for other rewarding past times but I will continue to be focused on this industry, scrapbooking, memory keeping, story telling, whatever you call it.
It may not make sense to anyone but me. But I am putting it out there for all to read- I am here to stay and so thrilled with my current opportunities at Ella Publishing and Big Picture Classes as I prepare to head off to the Scrapbooking trade show I am eager to embrace friends, see new product, make partnerships, and look for opportunities to work with others.
For now I am enjoying looking at layouts I have created over the last 10 years.
Assorted 8 1/2" x 11" pages
Assorted 12" x 12" pages
and that is why I LOVE Scrapbooking

While wandering the booths at CHA, I was drawn to 8.5 x 11 layouts with page elements centered, see below
I think all three of these were from the October Afternoon booth
(trust me it is hard to find minimal and simple layouts in manufacturers booths)
layout by Vivian Masket

layout by??
Now do you seen what I mean, down the middle
anyway, I tried this look on a few layouts this week, and I quite like them
Journaling reads
around the photo
With four teenagers I am constantly reminded of things not do to because it will embarrass them, who knew?
List of rules
Never wave in public
Avoid eye contact
Walk behind your child
Wear mom clothes
Refrain from hugging in public
Never talk about puberty
what rules did you give your parents as a teen? what rules do your teens give you?
I have the opportunity to spend the month guest blogging with the four talented gals over at the My Mind's Eye blog and these two layouts come from their blog, check it out.
(I posted some old layouts too. )
This layout is about my niece Chloe, and the journaling reads
This year Chloe wanted clothes for Christmas instead of toys
In this photo she is sporting the awesome gift I gave her, well my son Taylor helped pick it out.
Thanks for looking and stopping by.

Often times I get the chance to share about my scrapbooking journey,
where and how I started scrapbooking?
how did I get published the first time?
how did I get the opportunity to author Idiot's guide to scrapbooking?
how I got my former job at the former Simple Scrapbooks magazine?
how has my scrapbooking changed or evolved?
well, and more questions
So I thought this would make a great series of blog posts to share over the few months
and taking cue from all the home decor blogs I want to invite you to participate, tell all or part of your story and leave a link here, on this post, so others can read about your experience.
to participate
(now this is something new so be patient please)
Now on with the showUsing the available resources in early 1992, I made a photo album/scrapbook for my son Taylor's first birthday. At the time my husband was in school and we had no money. Purchasing a ready made fill-in-the blanks scrapbook was out of the question, so I had to get creative. I borrowed a seasonal clip art book from my neighbor and headed to the local copy store. There I purchased cardstock--- the only colors available---and did a literal cut and paste technique to get these month pages. (I believe I used a glue stick for adhesive) Upon completion of these page I placed them into page protectors. As for the album, well I had discovered this technique when my mom made one for my wedding snapshots a few years earlier and I made puffy albums for Christmas gifts in 1991, and of course, made one for Tay.
anyone else use clip art in their scrapbooks? ? ?
how about the cardstock in the neon color palette at their local copy store??
Guess what- ARE YOU STILL READING?? because the above IS NOT MY FIRST SCRAPBOOK
oh no, my first one was done in high school/college
check it out people, I know you want to know the story behind this bad boy- and you will, tomorrow (Tuesday Dec something)
and I will tell you where I put this quote in my home (clue, look at my stylish banner) tomorrow Tuesday, December something
"The best things you can give children,
next to good habits, are good memories."
~Sydney J. Harris
Enjoy your day(wondering what this is all about- look at the top of this post)

Welcome to the Giving Thanks {Blog Hop} 2009...
Thanks to some very amazing artists, over the next week, you will be able to hop around the web and find some amazing projects celebrating Gratitude and Creativity. We are very excited to be bringing you a cross-section of artisans, sharing their stories, creations, and thanks with all of you. Not everyone will post something everyday, but, there will be something somewhere everyday. You will just have to hop around and see what you can find. Each person participating has the full list of attendees posted, so you can hop from each one to another. We hope you find something that inspires you, sparks your creativity, or reminds you to be thankful this Thanksgiving. From our house to yours, please enjoy your week and our gratitude...
My first share this week is a website that you sign up to visit daily or weekly and list what makes you happy or what you are thankful for. This is a great tool for reminding yourself to be positive. I will be posting a project later on and some more fun things through the week. This will help you remember what you are grateful for and that is a good thing.
I am grateful for libraries. I love to read and could never afford to purchase all the books I read or want to read someday. The library is heaven for me. I am thankful for my library card.

that I made this weekend.
A few years ago at the thrift store I purchased a 12 x 12 piece of wood with routed edges (sp?) that had a vinyl saying. I left it up for a while and then decided to do something personal.
Found a favorite quote that I want my kids to read over and over again, printed it out using Centabel book font and found some home decor-ish patterned paper and assembled it all while watching the latest episode of Project Runway.
"Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds."
Gordon B Hinckley
as you can see I fussy cut the flowers with my Exacto in order to layer the patterned paper over the quote, and I added a bit of glitter with stickles, so fun.
Thanks for stopping by
